AT&T Wins $3 Million Networking Contract From Vector Security
2 September 2004
PITTSBURGH -- AT&T announced today it has been awarded a three-year, $3 million networking contract by Vector Security Inc., one of the nation's leading electronic security firms.
AT&T will integrate Vector Security's Pittsburgh Corporate Services location with 22 sites across the United States and connect them to mission-critical applications that enable an even more immediate response to customers' security emergencies. With this contract, AT&T wins all of Vector Security's data services from MCI and becomes the company's primary networking services provider.
Under the agreement, AT&T will implement a network-based Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN). With the converged voice and data networking platform, Vector Security is trialing AT&T Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services at selected sites, with plans to roll out to other locations. VoIP will enable the company to consolidate all of its communications -- voice, video and data -- over one secure IP network while increasing productivity and performance at a lower cost.
Additionally, the AT&T solution supports Vector Security's business continuity plan by providing automatic backup and rerouting to another facility in the event of a network disruption or disaster to guarantee uninterrupted security monitoring.
"In order to maintain our leadership as one of the most advanced and reliable security operations in the nation, it's critical for us to continually update our technology and state-of-the-art monitoring systems to maintain the most effective security solutions for our customers' homes and businesses," said Pamela J. Petrow, Senior Vice President of Corporate Services and Central Stations for Vector Security Inc.
Thom Helisek, Vector Security's Vice President of Information Services, agrees adding, "We're pleased to be working with a networking leader like AT&T to converge services on one highly reliable network for our key applications so we can offer our customers even greater levels of peace of mind."
With the AT&T networking solution, Vector Security further enhances the capabilities of its state-of-the-art central monitoring stations and gains even greater levels of security and speed for the company's e-mail, proprietary applications, customer databases, billing functions, and 24-hour monitoring and customer service. It also will enable them to respond even faster to the detection of intrusions, fires, personal emergencies and environmental changes.
Vector Security's 5 Star monitoring services are considered to be one of the electronic security industry's most reliable, accurate and fastest networks and are also Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) 5 Diamond rated. The monitoring network also tracks emergency response times so the company can closely manage and ensure they remain the quickest in the industry.
AT&T will integrate Vector Security's voice, data and IP services using its industry-leading AT&T Business Network, which unifies multiple services in a single contract, with a single bill and provides discounts across all services. Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirectÒportal, Vector Security gains around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems.
