Sprint Offers Greater Capacity and Performance for The Planet Internet Services

9 September 2004

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., -- Sept. 9, 2004 -- New gigabit Ethernet services from Sprint (NYSE: FON - News) are delivering greater speeds, better performance and ultimately cost savings for The Planet Internet Services, Inc., a fast-growing provider of managed hosting and other IT infrastructure services for businesses. Through a new three-year agreement, Sprint will provide The Planet with five gigabit Ethernet (Gig-E) network connections to Sprint's IP network, providing The Planet's customers with dizzying speeds to the Internet.

The new gigabit Ethernet services will be used to connect customers to The Planet's world-class hosting facilities in Dallas. The Planet has begun implementing the new network, and Sprint's services are already providing a boost to The Planet's existing high-speed network.

"Sprint's network is performing at up to 20 percent greater capacity than some of our existing connections, and that directly translates into better service for our customers and better performance for our business," said Lance Crosby, COO, The Planet. "The Planet is one of a very few companies in this industry sector that can boast being profitable, and our agreement with Sprint is delivering the kind of results that will contribute to our continued economic success and customer satisfaction."

Added Deborah Neal, regional vice president - Southwest Enterprise Markets, Sprint: "Our services have delivered greater speed and capacity to The Planet, which is quickly building its customer base among small-, medium- and large-enterprise companies seeking financial security coupled with tier-one datacenter services. We will continue to push the envelop on the kind of network services we can provide in order to help customers like The Planet meet their objectives."
