AboveNet's Metro IP service bypasses the private switched network and connects HostMySite.com to its IP backbone using a private, secure fiber optic connection to the AboveNet data center where they will link to AboveNet's global IP backbone. Since HostMySite.com will have access to the entire fiber in the metro, rather than just a wavelength, the company is able to burst up to a Gigabit of traffic without interruption.
