University to Use iLinc As Web-Based Training Solution for Automotive Retailers Worldwide
22 September 2004
PHOENIX -- Sept. 22, 2004 -- iLinc Communications (AMEX:ILC) announced today that Auto University, a division of Ted Ings Group, Inc., has selected iLinc to bring live, Web-based instruction to the University's extensive client base of automotive retailers. Auto University joins a growing list of large private and corporate educational institutions such as National University and White Hat Management, that have recently identified iLinc's LearnLinc software as their choice for virtual classroom instruction.
Auto University works with many of the world's top automotive manufacturers such as General Motors, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Toyota to provide training for their dealerships in the areas of sales, management, finance, and professional development. The iLinc Web-based training software, LearnLinc, will be deployed as part of the University's training curriculum to supplement its existing curriculum of self-paced training, in-person workshops, mentoring, and custom training programs. Auto University students will now be able to receive their curriculum via the LearnLinc software, allowing the University to reach more students and create a new revenue stream for their organization. The University will launch a new area of their Web site branded "Auto University Linc" that will offer the Web-based training programs.
"LearnLinc has distinguished itself in the training industry as a proven solution," said Gene Girdley, Dean of Development for Auto University. "We appreciate the depth of the software's capabilities as well as the extraordinary number of best practices that have been built into the software over time. LearnLinc will enable us to incorporate streaming video modules into a live, Web-based virtual classroom, delivering an interactive, multimedia experience for our students worldwide. The recording capabilities allow us to capture these experiences, edit them as needed, and provide them as self-paced, just-in-time content for students that can't be in the live sessions."
LearnLinc is part of the iLinc suite of Web Conferencing Software. The software won first place in the Online Learning Expo software simulation shootout - the only competition of its kind in which live, Web-based training tools were judged by independent training professionals. LearnLinc defeated other notable competitors such as WebEx, PlaceWare (now Microsoft Live Meeting), Centra, Interwise, and Eluminate. "iLinc created the first virtual classroom product over a decade ago, and we believe they are still a technology leader today," noted e-learning industry analysts Bersin and Associates in their June 2004 study titled Rapid E-Learning: What Works. "Their product is intuitive for new learners and easy for SME instructors to master."
"In independent evaluations, LearnLinc is consistently chosen over its competition as the superior software for live, Web-based training," said James M. Powers, Jr., president and chief executive officer of iLinc Communications. "Organizations that recognize instructional excellence continue to value the best practices that iLinc has incorporated in its LearnLinc software as a result of 10 years of listening to customers and working with thousands of corporate training professionals. Our recent wins with large private and public universities demonstrate our ability to maintain a leadership position in live, Web-based training."
