ANDOVER, MA-- Sept 30, 2004--Enterasys Networks(R) (NYSE: ETS), the Secure Networks CompanyTM, today announced that Akbank, the largest privately owned bank in Turkey, has deployed Enterasys' industry-leading Secure NetworksTM infrastructure to protect the bank's vital operational data, ensure network reliability, increase customer satisfaction and enhance employee productivity. Akbank, with 13 regional offices and 611 branches, has one of most extensive and robust service networks in Turkey. In addition to its core banking activities, the rapidly growing financial institution offers a wide range of retail, corporate and private banking services as well as international trade financing.
"Crucial financial transactions and private information traverse our network every day, so security is vital," said Mete Sarac, IT director for Akbank. "Our customers need to know that our network will be there to handle their transactions 24 hours a day, and that their private financial information is protected from unauthorized access. We rely on Enterasys' technology, customer support and Secure Networks solutions to give us the most granular levels of security, network-wide visibility and access control. The performance and security of our Enterasys network enables us to focus on what we do best--meet our customers' financial services needs."
Akbank recently moved its operations systems and IT personnel into new facilities in Istanbul. Due to the critical nature of the applications that would be running on its new network, the bank needed to migrate to a network infrastructure that not only was highly secure, but also easy to deploy, manage and scale. Akbank reviewed the offerings of several leading network technology providers and chose to deploy an Enterasys Secure Network.
The bank's Enterasys network features two MatrixTM N7 switches at the core and 45 Matrix E1 switches at the distribution layer. NetSight(R) Atlas, Enterasys' family of graphical, intuitive, policy management and troubleshooting tools, gives Akbank granular policy control over the entire network.
"Akbank is a great example of how enterprises around the world need a network technology partner that can help them maintain business continuity, comply with increasing regulations regarding data privacy, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure that customers and employees can access the information they need," said Michael Rivers, executive vice president of worldwide sales and services for Enterasys. "Secure Networks provides enterprises with an unmatched capability to respond to and resolve security threats quickly and cost-effectively, which enables them to run their businesses more productively and profitably."
