Global Crossing Ranks in Top 100 of CMP Media's InformationWeek 500

4 October 2004

Florham Park, NJ - October 4, 2004 -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBCE) announced today that it has been named to CMP Media LLC's InformationWeek 500 - a prestigious listing of the most innovative users of information technology (IT) in the United States. This is the third consecutive year Global Crossing has been named to the list and the first year that it made the top 100, placing it at number 91, which is 40 places ahead of last year's ranking.

"Our latest ranking continues to position us as a leader in information technology innovation," said John Legere, chief executive officer of Global Crossing. "As one of the top five innovative corporate users of IT technology in the telecommunications industry, we're delivering the benefits of our advanced, streamlined business systems to our enterprise and carrier customers around the world."

For 16 years, the InformationWeek 500 has tracked organization's IT agendas, providing a unique opportunity to understand and examine their business practices across core areas of technology operations. Companies named to this list demonstrate a pattern of technological and organizational innovation.

In 2003, Global Crossing deployed an automated global network inventory and management operations systems known as an end-to-end network (EON) that uniquely combines inventory and workflow to streamline the introduction of new IP services to the marketplace. EON has played a significant role in transforming the traditional IT function into a service operational cost advantage and market differentiator for Global Crossing and its customers alike, speeding the time it takes to bring new products and services to market. EON has become the catalyst and foundation of IT fundamentals that link converged IP communication services to best-in-class performance, reliability and customer experience.

"As a result of using EON, our network provisioning intervals improved in excess of 70 percent," said Dan Wagner, Global Crossing's chief information officer and executive vice president business infrastructure. "In addition, our overall customer satisfaction scores improved through the third quarter of 2004 as compared with 2003 scores."

Global Crossing's voice and data services portfolio is built around a streamlined global service delivery model that offers customers prompt procurement and provisioning. Premier dedicated customer service is provided from state-of-the-art network operations centers (NOCs) and call centers worldwide on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week.

uCommand®, Global Crossing's secure Web-based network management tool, enables customers to monitor their data and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, create utilization reports, reroute traffic, order new services, create and track trouble tickets, perform online bill payment and interact with customer service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Recent enhancements to uCommand include a new "look and feel," streamlined online ordering and account management tools, improved product performance reporting and simplified service ticketing.

"Tech initiatives balance between opportunistic investment and cost effectiveness," said Rusty Weston, editor of InformationWeek Research. "On average, the Information Week 500 will invest approximately 3.7 percent of their annual revenue on technology in 2004 for an average cash layout of $334 million. Business-intelligence tools, content-management software, and increased use of automated processes are widespread strategies aimed at squeezing more costs out of IT operations."
