Speedera Networks Named Rising Star in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Program

20 October 2004

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Oct. 20, 2004 -- Speedera Networks, a leading global provider of on-demand distributed application hosting and content delivery services, today announced that it has been named a Rising Star on the 2004 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America. A special category, the Rising Star list ranks 25 winners that have been in business less than five years, but at least three years. They are ranked based on percentage of growth in revenues over three years (2001 to 2003).

Speedera's CEO, President, and Co-Founder Ajit Gupta credits a relentless focus on customer service, extreme operational efficiencies and providing the market with new and innovative Internet technology solutions for creating the company's 832 % revenue growth over the past three years.

"Making the Deloitte Technology Rising Star List is indeed an honor and we are humbled to be among so many other great companies," Gupta said. "More importantly, however, this industry recognition is a testament to Speedera's commitment to technology, to our vision, and to becoming profitable."

"It's not easy for a young company to get traction in the technology marketplace let alone report such phenomenal revenue growth," said Mark A. Evans, national managing partner of Deloitte's Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group. "It's a credit to Speedera's leadership that they've managed to ramp up their business so quickly."

Speedera's increase in revenues of 832 percent over the three-year period of 2001 to 2003 resulted in Speedera being named as a Rising Star in the 2003 Deloitte Technology Fast 500.

Rising Star Qualifications

To qualify as a Fast 500 Rising Star, entrants must have had 2001 operating revenues of at least $50,000 USD and $75,000 CD for the United States and Canada, respectively; and 2003 operating revenues must be at least $1 million USD or CD. Deloitte researchers examined financial statements to validate operating revenues.

Entrants must also be public or private companies headquartered in North America, and a "technology company," defined as a company that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify.
