Norlight Telecommunications, a Wisconsin-based provider of integrated data solutions for businesses, announced the opening of a new Data Center in their recently built Brookfield, WI headquarters. The new 4,200-square-foot center offers collocation services as well as additional services that allow business customers to outsource many of their critical network security and business continuance needs.
The new Data Center provides customers with a secure, environmentally controlled space in which to collocate their data servers and related networking equipment. The center is outfitted so that customers' equipment is protected from disruptions that could impair their operations.
In addition, customers can add additional services, such as Managed Security, Enhanced Monitoring Services and Business Continuance, to their Data Center solution. These critical services will eliminate the need for customers to dedicate capital expenditures and in-house expertise to these functions, freeing up time to concentrate on their core business.

"Customers that are looking for a standard data center offering can choose ours for collocation, and they will always have the option of adding other services at any time."
Norlight's Data Center is equipped with UPS-protected power, including diesel generator backup, to prevent power failures from interrupting service. An interconnection between the Data Center and Norlight's SONET-based network backbone makes data transfer highly reliable given the backbone's inherent redundancy. Norlight also provides 24x7x365 monitoring of the physical Data Center and customers' connectivity to their systems as well as fully redundant heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems (HVAC).
A recent report titled Trends Driving Collocation Services in the Mid Market from the Yankee Group, a technology research and consulting organization, listed the top value-added services for collocation customers. Managed firewalls, network monitoring and systems monitoring were listed in the top four value-added services, and are all services available to Norlight Data Center customers.
Norlight's new Data Center is part of a larger Technology Center located in the company's new headquarters. The facility also houses a new Network Management Center for state-of-the-art monitoring services.
