AT&T Unveils New Internet Data Centre in Singapore
9 December 2004
Singapore -- 9 Dec., 2004 --AT&T today announced that it has opened a new Internet Data Centre in Singapore and expanded its ability to offer businesses in the South East Asia region globally consistent managed hosting services. This latest center is AT&T’s sixth in the Asia Pacific region and brings the company’s total to 26 worldwide.
The new Internet Data Centre (IDC) is designed to provide a portfolio of flexible hosting solutions including security, storage, intelligent content distribution, disaster recovery and load balancing options with Virtual Private Network (VPN) and data networking integration. AT&T’s Enterprise Hosting Service enables customers to choose the level of monitoring and management to suit their business needs. The new facility will help to give customers greater peace of mind by protecting their investments and critical data.
“AT&T Enterprise Hosting Services are an important enhancement to our service portfolio, as they offer customers a continuum of hosting and management capabilities that provide a flexible, global infrastructure supporting their e-business applications,” said Collis Loh, Country General Manager, AT&T Singapore. “Singapore is a key market for international businesses with networking and applications needs. We're responding directly to customers' requirements by providing globally consistent managed services and support.”
"AT&T is uniquely positioned to leverage its enterprise networking expertise, worldwide presence and application performance management services to help meet its customers’ strategic and operational needs. Unlike many other hosting companies' centres, AT&T’s IDC is located adjacent to the AT&T Global Network node enabling enhanced security and reliability. This gives customers diverse access options from dial-up to Ethernet and Fast Ethernet connections.”
The new Singapore IDC is one of AT&T’s four regional hubs in the Asia Pacific region, and is linked to the other five IDCs, located in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney, by high speed links, as well as to the United States in order to provide customers with comprehensive redundancy options.
Designed and deployed as part of AT&T's overall global network expansion efforts, the Asia Pacific IDCs complement the existing global IDC network in France (Nice), the United Kingdom (Birmingham), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), and Germany (Frankfurt) together with its US-based centres in Secaucus, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, New York City, Phoenix, Orlando and Dallas.
AT&T’s IDCs rely on an AT&T Labs-developed performance management platform - Integrated Global Enterprise Management System (iGEMS) - to proactively monitor and manage customer networking solutions and applications, while delivering performance reporting via industry-leading portal services.
By offering integrated, end-to-end services, solutions and support, AT&T is strengthening companies' ability to extend their business application networking across partners, suppliers, customers and employees. AT&T's managed hosting services complement an already comprehensive array of managed services, which are designed to serve any level of customer need, whether AT&T is providing fully managed end-to-end hosting solutions, or customers manage their own applications hosted in AT&T's IDCs.
