Computerworld's Storage Networking World Honors C2 Solutions with ``Best Practices in Storage'' Award

16 May 2005

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- May 16, 2005 -- C2 Solutions, sro, with its European partners DataCentrix and SIT, today announced that it has been recognized by Storage Networking World -- a conference co-owned by Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) -- as one of the winners of the "Best Practices in Storage" Awards Program sponsored by EMC. The award honors organizations that have applied exemplary storage solutions to provide strategic advantage to their enterprise. Winners received recognition for their achievement during a special awards ceremony at Storage Networking World (SNW) 2005, held April 12-15, 2005, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix, Arizona.

A wide range of IT end-user companies and organizations responded to an initial "call for nominations," which was originally announced to multiple industry audiences, including Computerworld subscribers responsible for storage solutions. Finalists were evaluated by a panel of judges based on case study submissions that profiled the company, its IT department and storage challenges, as well as application deployment details, summaries of the key technology used and measurable solution outcomes.

"Each year I continue to be impressed with the storage initiatives that are outlined in the case studies submitted for the Best Practices in Storage awards program. It is truly an achievement for all who work in the industry to see how storage has been elevated to a business-critical application in a few short years," said Ron Milton, executive vice president for Computerworld. "The Spring 2005 awards demonstrate how powerful storage has become within the business world and how making smart decisions about topics such as industry compliance and data recovery can directly impact a corporation's bottom line."

Being recognized under the award category "Systems Implementation," C2 Solutions, a systems integrator, and its partners, U.K.-based Datacentrix and Czech Republic-based SIT, obtained this distinction as a result of being part of a huge data migration project for the world's leading global express delivery and logistics company. Using Troika Networks' Accelera(TM) Network Storage Services Platform, enabled by StoreAge Networking Technologies StoreAge SVM, the trio of international systems integrators successfully migrated terabytes of data from the global delivery company's two London data centers to its new primary location in Prague, over 1,000 kilometers away. This undertaking was accomplished over a period of six months due to the large volumes of data transferred, selectively using snapshot and replication applications to move systems from the London sites to Prague to ensure up-time and no degradation of service.

"The main obstacles to complete this massive project were to find a solution that could move the data across heterogeneous storage environments and accomplish the migration without downtime or degradation of service," said Martin Conway, IT consultant, C2 Solutions. "The combined Troika Accelera/StoreAge SVM network-based solution allowed us to successfully overcome these hurdles, providing a high-performance, fabric-agnostic, open platform with data management capabilities that could easily and cost-effectively be deployed into the company's enterprise storage area network."

The Troika Accelera NSS Platform, enabled by StoreAge SVM, features a full set of data management tools from StoreAge SVM software, which provides users with a comprehensive set of business continuity tools that run in a heterogeneous environment. These data management tools, including StoreAge multiView(TM), multiCopy(TM), and multiMirror(TM), have been successfully ported to Troika's Accelera NSS Platform. The Accelera NSS Platform is a purpose-built, high performance platform designed specifically for optimizing storage applications, giving customers unprecedented flexibility in choosing what new capabilities to add to their networks, while leveraging their existing infrastructure investment.
