TOKYO -- June 2, 2005 -- AT&T today announced that it has implemented a secure remote access capability for Sanyo Chemical Industries Ltd, a leading manufacturer of performance chemicals in Japan. This gives remote workers of Sanyo Chemical at overseas or Japan business locations, a secure high-speed access capability via the Internet. Previously employees accessed the company’s internal systems from remote locations using dial-up access lines.
The remote access capability uses encrypted communication, user authentication, and access control via USB keys and an SSL-VPN. The new system allows employees to access the company’s daily report system, product database, expense account system, and various types of payment-settlement systems via a secure environment. In addition to enhancing security, the remote access capability enables higher access speeds and a significant reduction in communication costs. Approximately 300 users are currently using the service.
