SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., -- June 17, 2005 -- The Go Daddy Group, Inc., parent company of GoDaddy.com, the No. 1 registrar of domain names worldwide, has announced that the controversial web log ("blog") of its president and founder, Bob Parsons, www.bobparsons.com, has become the 23rd most popular self-authored, dedicated blog site on the Internet. Unlike blogs which are embedded into either another site or that of a free blogging utility (i.e., johndoeblog.blogger.com), www.bobparsons.com is a dedicated blog site, separate and apart from GoDaddy.com.
According to www.alexa.com, the three-month average site traffic ranking for www.bobparsons.com as of June 16, was 20,071. (Alexa.com provides a variety of Internet services, including site statistics, Internet traffic rankings, related links and more.) Comparing this Alexa ranking to the Top 100 most-searched blogs listed on www.technorati.com, www.bobparsons.com is both the 23rd most popular blog (and the most popular CEO blog) on the Internet in terms of site traffic. (Technorati ranks blogs according to the most "click-throughs" on commonly-searched keywords. www.bobparsons.com covers a variety of topics, many of which do not contain such keywords; for that reason, Parsons' blog is not listed in the Top 100.) Yet www.bobparsons.com's Alexa ranking was still higher than the Alexa ranking of 77 of the blogs listed on Technorati's Top 100 list.
"Once I decided to write a blog, I thought it was important to accurately gauge its traffic," said Bob Parsons, president & founder of Go Daddy. "I set up my blog as its own separate, dedicated site, so that any web traffic it generated would be from visitors deliberately seeking it out. I didn't want traffic to my blog to be indistinguishable from traffic originally targeted to another site -- as would be the case if my blog were www.godaddy.com/blog or blog.godaddy.com. I continue to be amazed at the growth and success of my blog, and look forward to writing future posts on a variety of subjects."
Currently, there are over 11 million blogs (i.e., personal web journals) online, according to both www.technorati.com and www.pubsub.com (an internet company that develops Internet-scale Publish/Subscribe systems and whose services include continuous monitoring of blogs, newsgroups and more).
