Accela Awarded $1.2 Million Contract for New Enterprise E-Government Solution
6 July 2005
DUBLIN, Calif., -- July 6, 2005 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that Sacramento has selected Accela Automation® to be implemented as the City's new enterprise land management system. More than 200 employees in the Development Services Department will use the new application to automate permitting, inspections, workflow, project management, plan review, code enforcement, and other City critical functions. The Development Services Department includes the following divisions: Development Engineering & Finance, Planning Services, and Building Services.
For the last few years, Sacramento has been using an Accela solution, 'PERMITS' Plus®, for its permitting activities. By upgrading to Accela Automation, the City will take advantage of a Web-based, enterprise solution that is flexible enough to meet the needs of everyone in the agency. The City has also opted to have Accela provide hosting services for the application, providing the City a more cost-effective approach to software installation and maintenance. The City's IT department will have more time to focus on other IT issues and tasks since they will no longer have to configure and maintain the application on client machines; users will have immediate access to the application using a Web browser.
The new system will provide Sacramento additional functionality including the ability for citizens to apply for applications and permits, research parcels and addresses, and schedule inspections via the Web. The system will also give City staff the ability to leverage their existing investment in GIS, take advantage of Accela's state of the art Interactive Voice Response system, and move inspection operations directly to the field with Accela Wireless(TM).
"We are excited that the city of Sacramento is taking this important step to upgrade its systems and take advantage of leading technologies," states Robert P. Lee, Accela's President and CEO. "This full enterprise implementation of Accela Automation has the potential to dramatically impact the economy by providing City staff with tools that reach out to customers in many ways -- from accepting applications via the Web to completing inspections in the field."
