Churchill Downs Selects Peak 10

CHARLOTTE, N.C. and LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Oct. 18, 2005 -- Peak 10, the Southeast's leading data center operator and managed services company, today announced the addition of Churchill Downs Incorporated ("CDI") (Nasdaq: CHDN) to its growing and diversified portfolio of customers. Churchill Downs Incorporated, which owns and operates world-renowned horse racing venues throughout the United States, will deploy a Metro Ethernet solution to enhance its wide area network (WAN) and risk mitigation plan. Peak 10 will provide these services out of its Louisville data center.

Metro Ethernet, formerly called Native Mode LAN Interconnect (NMLI), is a general term describing a metropolitan area network (MAN) topology. Simply put, Metro Ethernet is merely an extension of a company's internal local area network (LAN) environment. It can be used to connect to the public Internet or to build a private WAN. It increases network capacity and offers a simple, scalable and affordable alternative to traditional technologies such as T1 or frame relay. Metro Ethernet allows a company to quickly replicate data to another facility, thus fortifying that company's risk mitigation or disaster recovery plan.
