SAN ANTONIO -- March 20, 2006 -- Digital Defense, Inc., a provider of network security compliance and risk management services, and Netcraft Ltd., an Internet and security services company, announced an enhancement to their partnership arrangement. Digital Defense first introduced the benefits of Netcraft's phishing and Internet fraud detection platform to a broad range of businesses, particularly financial institutions, in November 2005. In response to the growing market need for assistance in addressing threats to an organization's brand and client information security, Digital Defense now offers a Countermeasures Service from Netcraft aimed at taking down fraudulent Web sites.
The Netcraft solution uses a variety of techniques to detect phishing attacks or other forms of Internet fraud aimed at clients. The primary methods include monitoring of DNS, SSL certificates and Web site front pages, in conjunction with an anti-phishing toolbar and intelligence data feeds with emphasis on spotting an actual or planned attack as early as possible. The addition of Countermeasures includes measures designed to shut down sites used in phishing exploits.
"Digital Defense will effectively complement our service delivery capabilities and market objectives," said Mandy Davis, Operations Manager at Netcraft. "We look forward to continue working with Digital Defense in rolling out our Netcraft phishing and Internet fraud detection solution."
Phishing and Internet fraud represent a growing threat to the integrity of online services offered by financial institutions and other enterprises. It is critical that these businesses implement solutions aimed at diminishing these threats, and that they thoroughly understand the technical underpinnings of any phishing and Internet fraud alert solution they consider deploying. The combination of Digital Defense's service orientation and Netcraft's well thought out proprietary technology provides a powerful resource geared to rapidly bring clients peace of mind.
"I am very excited about moving to this next level in our partnership with Netcraft," said Joseph A. Cooper, CEO of Digital Defense. "I am confident that Netcraft's extensive experience in Internet research techniques and superior phishing and fraud detection technology will combine well with Digital Defense's network security expertise and market reputation to provide the marketplace with a very powerful team that can help organizations maintain greater control of their online presence through this valuable service offering."
The phishing and Internet fraud alert solution and the Countermeasures Service are available from Digital Defense on a subscription basis.
