AIT stays on the Leading Edge

17 February 2004

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2004--The only constant in hosting is change, and sitting still means getting run over. That's why AIT (http://www.ait.com) has revamped its hosting offerings for both ends of the spectrum: the dedicated user who is likely a technology veteran and the newcomer who wants needs convincing before making a full-scale commitment. And, the company also has a series of hosting initiatives in its pipeline.

AIT is reaching out to the dedicated customer through a series of options that reflect the diversity of the market. "A lot of providers have defined dedicated hosting by price, through low-cost unmanaged solutions but this is not a one-size-fits-all segment, said AIT's Chief Executive Officer Clarence Briggs. "Everybody wants reliability and performance, but what about the details; do they want full management or not, is there a control panel preference, is root access an issue, and so forth."

AIT's structure features a tiered system of plans: a base dedicated server for the developer or web professional in search of dedicated and reliable "ping, power, and pipe", a second option featuring the Ensim Pro software, and the I-MHIP Enterprise for hosting resellers and ISP's. Dedicated plans comes with a minimum of 1000 GB of bandwidth, varying levels of server support and management, and are supported on both Linux and Windows operating systems.

AIT is also offering Internet newcomers one year of free hosting for each new domain that is registered so they can take advantage of the 65-billion dollars in anticipated online sales this year. "Even people who don't buy online use the Internet for research purposes, comparing vendors and prices in searching for the best deal," said the company's COO Kirk deViere. "Companies without a web presence run the risk of isolating themselves in the digital marketplace." The free hosting plan includes 300 MB of disk space and 20GB of monthly data transfer, free setup, an online control panel, and a spam blocker.

The hosting initiatives under development include enhanced web hosting offerings, additional e-commerce and marketing tools, improved anti-spam and security features, and a next-generation hosting automation control panel.
