Advanced Clinical Software to Open New Hosting Facility
2 March 2004
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2004--Advanced Clinical Software (ACS), the makers of Study Manager(TM), the leading clinical trial management software solution, announced today that it has opened its second software hosting facility in San Jose, Calif. Due to greatly increased customer demand and with the signing of its 150th hosted clinical research center, ACS added the second facility to provide additional capacity and redundancy for its Seattle-based hosting operation.
As hospitals, universities, health management organizations, and private research centers come to grips with the need to be more efficient and comply with patient privacy regulations such as HIPAA, the struggle to find the resources necessary to purchase, install, and maintain clinical trial software has prevented many research centers from implementing a solution sooner.
"When we launched our software hosting facility four years ago, clinical research centers were not familiar with the concept," stated Bruce Schatzman, president of ACS. "Today, the reliability and cost benefits of software hosting are a widely understood and accepted solution, which explains the exponential increase in the number of research centers, including large institutions, that have signed up for the Study Manager Hosting Service."
With ACS's secure hosting facilities, research centers have access to their own clinical trial management software with minimal up-front investment and zero ongoing maintenance. Instead of paying the full up-front cost of the hardware and software, clinical research sites pay a relatively low monthly fee and run Study Manager on ACS's secure servers over the Internet. Technology issues that usually represent a struggle for research centers, including software and hardware upgrades, data security, and backups, are completely eliminated.
In its 10th version, the Web-based Study Manager clinical trial management system allows researchers to closely monitor clinical trial operations and access key information such as patient tracking, schedules, financial data, enrollment progress, and task management in a timely and secure manner.
Based in Seattle, Washington, ACS is a privately held company.
