Direct Response Technologies Taps Speedera to Expand Its Global Footprint in Ad-Serving and Affiliate Marketing

6 May 2004

SANTA CLARA, Calif.)--May 6, 2004-- Speedera Networks Inc., a leading global provider of on-demand distributed application and content delivery services, today announced that Direct Response Technologies, Inc., one of the Internet's leading providers of online media and technology solutions, has selected Speedera to deliver its customers' advertisements to consumers worldwide and to support its affiliate reporting and tracking tools.

Direct Response Technologies' fast growth is part of an overall resurgence in online advertising as marketers are pouring more money into new forms of electronic communications and flooding the Web with their messages to reach target audiences. The market for online branded advertising is returning to the levels seen at the peak of the Internet boom in 2000 as Internet ad revenue hit $2.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2003, a record-breaking 38 percent jump over the same quarter in 2002, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.

As Direct Response Technologies expands its footprint in the affiliate relationship management and ad-serving markets, the company required an outsourced solution that would enable its clients to move a high volume of traffic without adding stress to its own network. Speedera's on-demand SpeedSuite family of services enables Direct Response Technologies to achieve the highest level of global scale, quality, security, reliability and efficiency of delivery without having to further build out and manage additional costly IT infrastructure on its own.

"Direct Response Technologies' commitment is to provide superior service and track online transactions for our clients," said Greg Stoltz, Chief Technology Officer with Direct Response Technologies. "We needed an infrastructure partner who could provide us the global reach, capacity, and performance to meet our business objectives. We rigorously examined various service providers and concluded that Speedera had the deep industry expertise and credibility in the online marketing business to help us successfully deliver the full range of creative forms of commercial communications, from banner ads to Flash streaming."

Specifically, Direct Response Technologies is relying on Speedera's globally distributed network computing services for DirectTrack(R), its privately branded affiliate software that allows companies to track every aspect of the transaction for a better understanding of both consumer behavior and business results. Stoltz said the needs of clients in Europe, Australia and the United States required expanded delivery capacity and geographic reach, both of which Speedera provides through its distributed delivery network deployed around the world.

"We noticed an immediate major improvement in both delivery performance and reliability right after we implemented the Speedera solution," Stoltz added. "It also saved us from having to invest in additional network infrastructure."

As the online advertising industry continues its surge forward, Direct Response Technologies anticipates that the demand for additional services, such as Flash streaming, will be crucial to the industry's future. Speedera can quickly and easily deliver new forms of advertising content on demand, providing strategic flexibility to Direct Response in creating new services for its clients.

Direct Response Technologies also benefits from SpeedEye, Speedera's powerful, yet easy-to-use Web-based management portal. SpeedEye provides detailed logging and reporting to support Direct Response Technologies' DirectTrack(R) ad management service, including the ability to view real-time and historical information on usage, performance and delivery reliability.

"Direct Response Technologies is at the forefront of understanding and influencing consumer behavior online," said Ajit Gupta, President and CEO of Speedera Networks. "By offloading its central ad delivery site, Direct Response can now more fully concentrate on its core business of determining the best way to put the right message in front of the right target audiences through multiple forms of digital communications. We are excited to be a key accelerator for the growth of Direct Response Technologies and the overall online marketing industry."

Direct Response procured Speedera's services as part of a larger solution provided through Inflow, one of Speedera's channel partners. Inflow is a leading provider of carrier-neutral datacenter and outsourced IT services, which includes collocation, managed hosting, business continuance & disaster recovery, and IT consulting.
