Legacy Re-Hosting Advances With Latest Version of Eden Server
11 May 2004
FLANDERS, N.J., May 10 -- Rosebud Management Systems, LLC, a leading provider of COBOL / CICS(R) mainframe re-hosting software and services, announced today that version 3.13 of their flagship product Eden Server has been released for general availability. Eden, a full featured COBOL / CICS(R) emulator, reduces costs associated with mainframe based legacy applications by porting them to the Microsoft Windows(R) platform.
"The goal of Eden 3.13 is to provide customers with a single source for all their mainframe re-hosting needs," said Ethan Schultz, President of RMS, LLC. "After five years of developing and supporting Eden as a production environment for our customers, Eden has grown beyond the confines of simple online transaction processing to include all those features normally associated with mainframe environments. Because most conversions require only a conversion of data from EBCDIC to ASCII, our average customer is able to move their production systems to Eden within 3-4 months, after which they're seeing up to 45% performance improvements. Following removal of the mainframe, customers typically realize about 90% of those costs as on-going annual savings."
Eden Server supports up to five concurrent online application regions and now includes advanced batch scheduling features with support for up to 50 concurrent jobs, online real-time batch management features, report printing and archiving, fully automated catalog driven tape capabilities and comprehensive integrated security features. Also included is a full suite of integrated real-time monitors and performance analysis tools that keep Eden running smoothly even at peak loads of up to 1,000 users per server.
Eden Client provides full support for CICS(R) / BMS functionality in a Windows(R) GUI without the need for changes, even to programs utilizing low- level BMS features. Eden Client is provided in two configurations; one follows a thick distributed architecture and the second uses a server based client with a thin workstation interface suitable for use over the internet or a corporate extranet. Eden Server and Client both offer a wide range of programming API's that enable customers to easily integrate Eden with a wide variety of systems written in other languages, including systems hosted on other platforms.
All Eden products are built around the Net Express(R) development and run time environment from Micro Focus that allows Eden customers all the benefits of the Net Express(R) development environment.
