GameStop Awards AT&T $3.6 Million Networking Contract
1 June 2004
GRAPEVINE, Texas -- GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) has awarded AT&T a $3.6 million, three-year networking contract to provide high-speed connectivity to its 1,603 retail stores in 49 states.
GameStop, based in Grapevine, Texas, is one of the world's largest online video game and entertainment software specialty retailers. AT&T's network also will reduce GameStop's costs by eliminating local toll dial-up charges. Shoppers will find credit card and check approval faster, as well.
"By replacing our slower dial-up network with AT&T's 'always-on' network, we can focus on developing new value-added services for our customers -- and save money too," said Jeff Donaldson, vice president Information Technology.
AT&T also provides local and long-distance voice services to GameStop.
Flair Data, a Dallas-based AT&T Alliance Channel agent helped close the deal. Alliance Channel agents complement and enhance AT&T's capabilities with specialized skills in network design and deployment, applications integration and communications equipment expertise.
The GameStop networking solution is based on AT&T's Managed Internet and DSL-IP services.
