Host Europe Virtualizes IP Services to Cut Operating Costs by up to 90 Percent
2 June 2004
FREMONT, Calif.--June 2, 2004-- Host Europe GmbH, one of Europe's leading Internet hosting companies, has just gone live with the first virtualized IP services delivery platform in Germany.
The platform, implemented by systems integrator Telindus, is based on Inkra 1500 Series Virtual Service Switches from Inkra Networks.
Using Inkra Virtual Service Switches, Host Europe has consolidated, virtualized, and automated the delivery of its network and security managed services.
The virtualized service delivery architecture will create significant savings for Host Europe, reducing its operating costs by up to 90 percent. It will also be able to respond to customer requests much more rapidly as Inkra's browser-based management system allows services to be provisioned in hours, rather than days or weeks.
The platform has also allowed the Internet hosting company to extend its services portfolio to include virtualized VPNs, Firewalls, Load Balancers and Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems.
The virtualized platform also offers high scalability without the need to invest in additional expensive infrastructure equipment. A single Inkra 1500 Series Virtual Service Switch can be scaled up to deliver the same functionality and performance as tens to hundreds of separate physical network appliances.
"The virtual services architecture takes our business to a new level," said Eric Drissler, Purchasing Manager at Host Europe GmbH. "We can reduce costs at the same time as offering our customers a more responsive, flexible, and scalable service. It's a win-win situation and gives us a real competitive edge."
"We selected Telindus to implement a new service delivery platform based on its reputation, ability to meet tight deadlines, and its partnership with Inkra Networks. We have been delighted with both the installation and the quality of Inkra's technology," Drissler added.
