Valtira Acquires Rolecall

MINNEAPOLIS--June 10, 2004--Valtira Corporation announced today that it has acquired the rights to the Rolecall(TM) Application Security Frameworks from Rolecall creators Justen Stepka and Morgan Catlin.
Rolecall is a framework used by Web site and Web application developers to provide authentication services in the sites and applications they develop. Through Rolecall, multiple applications authenticate users against existing user directories, such as Microsoft ActiveDirectory, Novell NDS and LDAP. Because Rolecall is based on open Web services standards, both J2EE and .NET applications can authenticate through it.
"Rolecall will form the foundation of our Small Business Platform(TM) strategy," said Valtira CEO George Reese. "Our small business applications like Simplicis(TM) and xS(TM) will use Rolecall to give companies the ability to use their Windows or Macintosh logins to access our entire product suite."
As part of the deal, Stepka and Catlin will join Valtira as director of product development and product manager, respectively.
The new release of the Rolecall product will be made available online -- both in free trial versions and for-purchase versions -- later this week with the launch of the redesigned Valtira Web site. This new release includes a redesigned user interface that reflects the design of the Simplicis.
