NACIO Systems to Offer Intel Enterprise Blade Server Products

29 June 2004

NOVATO, Calif. -- June 29, 2004 -- NACIO Systems (www.nacio.com) announced that it has been approved to offer the Intel(R) Enterprise Blade Server Family of products as part of NACIO's Dedicated Managed Hosting program.

Blade servers represent the next generation in server technology in which many ultra-thin but powerful compute blades are contained in a single chassis and share the same fault-tolerant resources, such as power supply, fans, and network switches.

Blades offer a number of benefits over traditional rack-mounted servers. These benefits allow NACIO to deliver more flexible and robust services to its customers at a lower cost: faster deployment and upgrades, improved management, improved reliability and space and power savings.

NACIO offers blade servers in two configurations: the Intel Server Compute Blade SBXL52 featuring Dual Intel(R) Xeon processors, and the Intel Server Compute Blade SBXL44, equipped with four Intel Xeon processors MP. To assist with server deployment, NACIO is using the Intel(R) Deployment Manager by VERITAS OpForce(TM).

Blade servers, available with either Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or RedHat Linux Enterprise Server 3.0, are ideal for a wide range of Internet and enterprise applications including web, application, email and database servers.

NACIO offers new solutions based on the Intel Server Compute Blades as part of the company's Dedicated Managed Server (DMS) and colocation offerings, with both lease and purchase options. NACIO also provides a number of related services including data security, managed storage, backup, monitoring, reporting and application management.

"We are excited to offer this new technology to our customers," said Vince Conroy, NACIO's CTO. "The Intel Enterprise Blade Server Family provides a significant advantage to our customers in terms of improved management, deployment, flexibility, and performance," he added. "Intel Server Compute Blade SBXL52 and SBXL44 consolidate resources and reduce the time and effort needed to deploy and manage servers, so we're able to pass these savings along to our customers while offering a more robust service."

One of the first places NACIO is deploying it's new blade server solutions is in its new alternate disaster recovery site in the Sacramento area. Using Blade servers, NACIO offers hot and warm standby sites for disaster recovery and business continuity applications. Blades are ideal for this application because they allow for lights-out deployment, remote management and fast deployment.

"We are pleased that NACIO will be offering our building blocks within the Intel Enterprise Blade Server Family to its customers," said Tom Matson, Director, Intel Enterprise Platforms and Services Marketing. "NACIO's experience in data center infrastructure and IT integration makes them fully qualified to offer our Enterprise Blade Server products."
