European Provider TeleCity Powers Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board

15 July 2004

London, -- July 15, 2004, -- TeleCity (LSE: TCY.L), the award-winning European provider of colocation and data centre services, today announces a three year deal with ESB, Ireland’s largest electricity company, to provide a home for their critical server infrastructure in TeleCity’s Dublin data centre. TeleCity will supply rack and suite space in their data centre, as well as continual round-the-clock engineering support, ensuring that ESB experiences 100% uptime in all its operations.

ESB is the leading Irish company in the energy utility sector, and is 95% owned by the Irish government. Ireland has one of the fastest-growing electricity markets in the developed world growing by over 40 per cent over the past 10 years, far ahead of growth in the rest of Europe.

ESB’s increased demand for resilient data centre space is being driven by the rapid de-regulation of the electricity market in Ireland and the consequent knock-on effect this has for the business in terms of provisioning for supporting IT infrastructure. “We required a robust, secure and resilient facility to complement our own existing server infrastructure,” said Mr John McSweeney, general manager IT solutions and Telecoms at ESB. “We chose TeleCity based on their track record of reliability and high levels of service on offer.”

TeleCity UK and Ireland country manager, Simon Bushell said “This is another significant Irish win for TeleCity, and an excellent public endorsement of the capabilities of our Dublin data centre.”

TeleCity customers also receive guaranteed back-up and recovery, 24/7 support and security in a carrier-neutral data centre environment. This guarantees that IP and telecoms services are always available to ESB, in any eventuality.
