Can I collocate with just my desktop instead of a proper rackmount case? |

| Some, if not most, web hosts, carrier hotels or data center facilities will allow its clients to collocate desktop servers i.e. mid to full towers. However, they may charge more fees than a rackmount server or case. Rackmount cases, particularly, U1 and U2 are standard sizes that datacenter can slot into its network racks with high efficiency. The ultra-slim cases can basically save data centers and other facilities money by minimizing square-footage and rack-space costs because of its physical restrictions. If you intend to use desktop cases, remember to contact the provider or facility first to determine if they allow it since it is not uncommon for them to state server sizes in units when advertised on its web site. |
