I am currently having some problems changing web hosts since when I type in the web site address, it comes up with the old index page! Help. Please! |

| The problem you have given us is quite broad. However, I will assume that you know a little about DNS, how it works and that you’ve changed the name servers to your new web hosting company or internet service provider. Below is a checklist of things I would check to see if it resolves the problem:
- The name servers of the new web host or ISP are correctly entered into your domain registrar’s control panel. If this is not an option, contact them and request the changes.
- Do a simple WHOIS on your domain name and check that the name servers are registered and showing. However, the WHOIS database is only updated once or twice a day so you will need to be patient.
- Wait 24 - 48 hours before attempting to access the web site again as it can take a fair while for DNS changes to propagate.
- Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) i.e. the company that provides you with Internet services with a request to flush their DNS and/or proxy cache.
- In your Internet browser i.e. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape or Mozilla, go under the tools or preferences menu and clear the temporary internet files cache. This will remove all the cached files from web sites you have previously visited recently.
