| There is no definite answer for this question since it is highly dependent on your current and future web hosting needs. However I can give recommendations. For a small web site with light traffic, your needs should be satisfied with 50 – 250 MB of disk space and ~1GB (1000MB) of monthly data transfer. However, if you intend to store videos or large resolution images, you may want to increase these recommendations by 25 %- 75%.
For small to medium sized businesses with databases and shopping carts, the recommended disk space would be between 500MB to 1GB and 5GB to 10GB data transfer. These recommendations may seem conservative but web sites rarely need this much resources in the first six months of operation unless it is sustained by a fairly heavy advertising or marketing campaign.
