| If you are starting out with very few clients or clients that don't have high web hosting needs, then I believe the most affordable method is to purchase a reseller hosting plan with your own DNS (domain name servers) so you can rely on your own brand but use an existing host's infrastructure. This is also useful, if you don't want high overheads, say compared to a dedicated server or collocating your own server, and do not have much technical expertise to manage a server. A reseller web hosting accounting will often give you a user friendly hosting control panel to setup your new clients. Next, I would find a nice help desk software and also a reliable credit card merchant so you can process credit card payments - you can use paypal as well if you're on a tight budget but get the business plan. Finally, get a marketing plan ready as this will be you key driver to growing your company. Use press releases and advertise in relevant forums to get started. You can also use overture and Google Adwords but be careful it can be expensive but quick to get targeted traffic. |
