What is a virtual terminal?

In the real world, merchants process credit cards through devices that we call terminals. In the online world, this is not possible as the merchant cannot physically take the customer’s credit card and run it through the machine. In order to overcome this dilemma, virtual terminals are used instead where credit card details can be inputted by the merchant over a virtual connection.

Virtual terminals are provided and secured by your credit card processor or merchant account provider.
