If I encounter hardware or software problems on my server(s) or my other co-located equipment, who fixes it?

This really depends on the details of the service agreement that you signed with your web hosting company. Sometimes, the web host makes available hardware replacement guarantees and so forth. However, in most cases, it is the customer’s responsibility to replace damaged hardware and troubleshoot their own software problems. The web host can replace hardware as well but it will incur labor and part replacement charges.

Since server co-location gives the customers so much flexibility and responsibilities, it is not ideal for customers who have little technical expertise.
