I have no experience with the domain name registration process. What do I have to do to register my own domain name?

If you want to register your own domain name, you can do this through a domain name registrar or your web hosting company. Either way, it is important that the domain name is registered in your name instead of the web hosts as this can save a lot of hassles later on if you want to move to another web host for one reason or another.

When you sign up for a web hosting package with the web host, they normally offer you the option of registering a domain name if you do have one. The annual registration fee will be dependent on the web host as well in that case.
