Does it really matter whether I selected a UNIX or Microsoft windows hosting environment for my web hosting?

To be honest, the answer really depends on your web hosting needs. If you are running a plain HTML web site then either platform will suffice. However, this choice becomes more important if you need to run platform specific applications or utilizes, such as, ASP or TCL scripts since one platform may not support it. The important thing is to evaluate your needs carefully, consult with your potential web host and work from there.

If you are really concerned about this then select a web host that offers both, and if you need to switch platforms in the future, it will be much easier.

Do you have an answer or something to share as well regarding this question?
