How can I add that small icon to the web browser's address bar when users visit my web site?

This was a feature that first showed up in Internet Explorer 5 but is not supported by all newer web browsers. The icon will appear in the address bar and it will also appear in their favorites/bookmarks list.

Create a 16x16 pixel image representing your icon.

Convert the image to .ico format.

Rename the image to favicon.ico

Upload the file to the root of your web site directory.
