Does it matter if I use lower case or upper case for HTML tags?

Most basic HTML element tags i.e. <IMG SRC=””> is the same as <img src=””> and are case insensitive, so it doesn't matter. This is just a matter of style. Many people prefer upper case, as it makes the tags "stand out" better amongst the text. Attribute names can also be upper or lower case, as you prefer.

However, in the new XHTML 1.0 standard, it does require element and attribute names to be in lower case.
