I am the webmaster of the Great Lakes Cisco Users Group - http://www.glcug.com and we have been hosting our site at SJK Hosting Solutions since 2002. They're based in the Detroit area, Michigan and utilize two data centers with multiple, multihomed OC-3 and OC-12 connections at each location which provides superior redundancy. If you are looking for a secure and reliable web hosting service, these guys are the "solution". I've been with a lot of different hosts over the years and let me tell you, this is the longest we've kept the same DNS servers. The pricing is totally reasonable for the reliability, security and boat load of extra features. No SSH or Shell access is provided to anyone, and no temp URLs are enabled (e.g. yourdomain.com/~anotheruser). There's a bunch of other stuff they do to enhance security in a shared environment but those two are biggies in my book. On a scale from one to ten - we've got an eleven here. They don't offer 24x7 phone support, but you'll never need it because the help desk is 24x7 and very easy to use.
Pros:
Extremely reliable service, very accomidating to local businesses and webmasters. This company is more customer service orientated than any web host I've ever seen. They go way above the call of expected duty to make sure the customer is happy before closing any tickets. Over 3 years with them, and nothing has changed which to me is a good sign of stability. Keep up the good work guys!
Cons:
None that I can think of other than the pricing being a slight bit above the median according to the current market. I see this as more of a good thing because it will thwart these bandwidth hogs that do nothing but clog up servers all day long. The only other thing is that they don't offer 24x7 phone support (offered during normal business hours), but it isn't needed; help desk responses are usually picked up within a matter of minutes - even at 2AM. |
